LEP and cardiovascular disorder: The literature shows that excess body fat can increase the risk of metabolic changes and produce a higher prevalence of risk factors for cardiovascular diseases, including higher concentrations of triglycerides, insulin, leptin, systolic and higher diastolic blood pressure, in addition to reduced high density lipoprotein (HDL-C) (30) which explains the growing concern about obesity in this age group, and the increasing research into effective preventive and treatment solutions.
