LD contains a 0.5% CA component as compared with HFCD, which is required for the activation of the gut-liver cross-talk-initiated FGF15/19-FGFR4-SHP-Cyp7a1/8b1 pathway, which increases the risk of CGD by inhibiting the cholesterol-bile acid conversion. Here, FGFR4 is linked to chronic granulomatous disease.
