Employing a clinically relevant model of established HTN, we demonstrated that EPA consumption 1) mitigated the progression of HTN-induced interstitial cardiac fibrosis and associated LV diastolic dysfunction, 2) promotes the polarization of macrophages toward anti-inflammatory M2 macrophages, and 3) increased cardiac levels of the anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-10. This evidence concerns the gene IL10 and hypertensive disorder.
