Regarding the analysis of metabolic profiles [Table 1], women with PCOS had higher mean fasting glucose/insulin ratios (5.3±3.7 vs. 10.9±5.1, p = 0.0001), higher HOMA-IR (6.9±7.6 vs. 2.0±1.1, p = 0.001), and higher triglyceride levels (140±99 mg/dL vs. 77±35 mg/dL, p = 0.01) than controls, even after adjustment for BMI, and HOMA-IR maintained a trend after this adjustment. Here, INS is linked to polycystic ovary syndrome.
