Several inflammation-associated markers such as C-reactive protein (CRP), ferritin, fibrinogen, D-dimer, neutrophil levels, urea in blood, and the cytokines IL-6, IL-10, and TNF-α have being associated with COVID-19 progression and play an important role in the development of acute lung injury (4, 6, 8, 9). This evidence concerns the gene IL6 and COVID-19.
