Although it is shown in this study that ARDS is significantly lower for the anti-depressant treated subgroup, so mild significant lower employment of protease inhibitors and endotracheal intubation is needed in this subgroup because of a lower level of IL-6 in anti-depressant treated patient that resulted from inhibition function of acid sphingomyelinase induced by antidepressants. Here, IL6 is linked to acute respiratory distress syndrome.
