Increased levels of β-amyloid are not restricted to Alzheimer’s disease but are also evident in Parkinson’s disease (especially with Lewy Bodies), surrounding motor neurons in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, highly expressed in glioblastoma and around breast cancer cells, with BACE1 and its positive lncRNA regulator, BACE1-AS, also significantly increased in autism [139]. This evidence concerns the gene BACE1 and Parkinson disease.
