The three main mutational subtypes of GISTs, accounting for about 95% of all tumor genotypes, are C-KIT-mutant (receptor tyrosine kinase protein known as tyrosine-protein kinase KIT), which is also known as cluster of differentiation 117 (CD117)-mutant, platelet-derived growth factor receptor alpha (PDGFRA) -mutant, and succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) -deficient.
