In a study on colon cancer patients, after administration of a mixture of six probiotics, consisting of Lactobacillus acidophilus BCMC12130, Lactobacillus lactis BCMC12451, Lactobacillus casei subsp BCMC12313, Bifidobacterium longum BCMC02120, Bifidobacterium bifidum BCMC02290, and Bifidobacterium infantis BCMC02129, for 4 weeks after surgery for colon cancer, the peripheral blood proinflammatory cytokines TNF-α, IL-6, and IL-22 were significantly reduced [85].
