IL6 and meningoencephalitis: The pathophysiological characteristics of SARS-CoV-2-associated meningoencephalitis are still unclear, but may be related to neuronal cell edema secondary to neuroinflammatory injury, due to cytokine storm syndrome induced by the overreaction of monocytes, macrophages, and T cells after SARS-CoV-2 infection or release of interleukins-6 (IL-6) [18].
