In comparison to the non-NAFLD group, the severe steatosis group is more likely to be men and older, with a higher proportion of non-Hispanic blacks and Mexican Americans; with higher smoking status; and higher levels of BMI, waist circumference, AST, ALT, ALP, total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, triglyceride, LSM, and SII but lower levels of direct HDL cholesterol and serum phosphorus. This evidence concerns the gene GPT and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
