It soon became clear that thrombosis was a manifestation of COVID-19, therefore the possible contribution of de novo antiphospholipid antibodies (aPL) raised research interest, as these autoantibodies are directly involved in the pathogenesis of vascular and obstetric complications (1), leading to the so-called picture of antiphospholipid syndrome (APS).
