Although a few studies have demonstrated that the protective effects of ANP in model rats with middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) may be due to its anti-oxidative and anti-inflammatory properties (Wang et al., 2014; Tsoi et al., 2019; Zhang et al., 2021), the underlying mechanism of ANP in the treatment of stroke, especially involving gut microbiota, is seldom addressed in the literature. This evidence concerns the gene NPPA and stroke disorder.
