Since neurooncology is a dynamic field and updates are regularly made based on novel research findings, the recently published 5th edition of the WHO classification includes a number of additional molecular markers such as homozygous CDKN2A/B loss, TERT promoter mutation and chromosome 7 polysomy with chromosome 10 monosomy in the routine glioma diagnosis (Louis et al., 2021). This evidence concerns the gene CDKN2A and central nervous system cancer.
