Several studies by Deng Y et al. [27, 29, 30] found that neuronal apoptosis after ischemia and hypoxia could be inhibited by ICS II, and ICS II significantly ameliorates post-AIS injury by regulating MMP9/TIMP1 homeostasis and increasing Bax and cleaved-caspase3 expression and further inhibiting neuronal apoptosis through caspase 3-dependent apoptotic pathway, with reduced Bcl-2/Bax expression. The gene discussed is BAX; the disease is androgen insensitivity syndrome.
