TREM2 is exclusively expressed in the macrophage population (Supplementary Fig. 2f), and further analysis of bulk RNA-seq data24 shows that TREM2-high tumors are associated with poor survival outcomes (Supplementary Fig. 2j, k), suggesting that TREM2 + M2 macrophages play an important role in ccRCC progression. The gene discussed is TREM2; the disease is nonpapillary renal cell carcinoma.
