CRP and metastatic neoplasm: CRP was also evaluated as part of the CATCH trial, which compared tinzaparin with warfarin in the treatment of 900 patients with acute CAT – they found a mean circulating CRP level of 50.3 mg/L at the time of acute VTE, and that the uppermost quartile of CRP (> 75 mg/L) was associated with recurrent VTE in univariate analysis (RR 2.3) which was maintained after adjustment for competing risks such as history of VTE or metastatic disease (84).
