The authors concluded that especially NT-proBNP may have a role in the clinical follow-up and risk-stratification of patients after Fontan procedure as in their study NT-proBNP was strongly associated with all possible adverse events investigated [cardiac death, out of hospital cardiac arrest, heart transplantation (listing), cardiac reintervention (severe events), hospitalization, and cardioversion/ablation for arrhythmias] (35). Here, NPPB is linked to cardiac arrest.
