In both sexes, there were more up-regulated genes than down-regulated; several genes overlapped including Ubb, Tuba1c, Ndnf, Srd5a1, Zfp40, Mocos, and Atp1a3. Using the KEGG 2021 Human ENRICHR database, the top pathways in female Pink1−/− rats were PD and mitophagy and in male Pink1−/− rats were PD, pathways of neurodegeneration, and proteasome. Here, PINK1 is linked to Parkinson disease.
