Interestingly, recent data have demonstrated that EGCG-loaded liposomes decreased the production of NO and TNF-α in LPS-induced BV-2 microglia, attenuated LPS-induced pro-inflammatory cytokine levels, and restored motor impairment in vivo in a PD rat model, suggesting that EGCG exerts a neuroprotective effect by modulating microglial activation (Cheng et al., 2021).
