All the above results suggested that, once Erbin was knocked out in microglia, its negative regulatory effect on IRE1α/Xbp1s was attenuated, resulting in a relative activation of IRE1α/Xbp1s, thereby activating NLRP3 inflammasome, causing microglia pyroptosis, which released mounts of inflammatory factors, leading to neuronal damage and even cognitive impairment in sepsis mice. This evidence concerns the gene ERBIN and Cognitive impairment.
