The immune profile observed in unvaccinated pregnant mice seems to be facilitated by proinflammatory mechanisms, as demonstrated by increased proliferation of monocytes and neutrophils, likely due to the upregulation of type I, type II, and type III IFNs as well as the activation of interferon-stimulated genes (ISGs) due to ZIKV infection (26, 46, –, 49). This evidence concerns the gene STING1 and Zika virus infectious disease.
