p53 gene mutations, deletions, HDM2-mediated degradation and cytoplasmic sequestration have been reported as main drivers of oncogenic signaling in a large variety of cancers (Hainaut and Hollstein, 2000; S. C. Kaul, Aida, Yaguchi, Kaur and Wadhwa, 2005; S. C. Kaul, Reddel, Mitsui and Wadhwa, 2001; Lu et al., 2011a; Unger et al., 1999). This evidence concerns the gene TP53 and cancer.
