Many studies over the last two decades have shown that IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α are intimately linked to cardiac fibrosis, pathological cardiac remodeling, and cardiac hypertrophy [67–70], and the inflammatory cytokines induced following the activation of the nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) pathway [71] [44].
