Fu et al. [18] have concluded that acute administration of irisin increases endothelium-dependent vasodilation and lowers the blood pressure of spontaneously hypertensive rats by amelioration of endothelial dysfunction of the mesenteric artery through the AMPK-protein kinase B (Akt)-eNOS-NO signaling pathway. The gene discussed is AKT1; the disease is endothelial dysfunction.
