SLC7A11 and neoplasm: Lipoxygenase (LOX) catalyzes the production of lipid peroxides, as proof, Arachidonate 12-Lipoxygenase (ALOX12), an isoform of the mammalian lipoxygenase family, can inhibit p53-regulated ferroptosis via inhibiting lipid synthesis function by specifically binding to SLC7A11, which abolishes the function of p53 suppressing tumor growth through ferroptosis (Chu et al., 2019).
