MCC950 is well known as an NLRP3-specific inhibitor, showing a promising therapeutic effect in a variety of NLRP3-dependent immunopathological mouse models, including colitis, steatohepatitis, etc., but it was withdrawn from phase II clinical trial for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis due to hepatotoxicity (Mangan et al., 2018). This evidence concerns the gene NLRP3 and rheumatoid arthritis.
