Logistic analysis revealed that after adjusting for sex, age, hypertension, obesity, IL-10, IL-4, and IL-6, an increased plasma level of TNF-α was significantly associated with sarcopenia, which was consistent with the results of previous studies, suggesting that TNF-α may play an essential role in the pathogenesis of sarcopenia. This evidence concerns the gene IL6 and obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
