A consistent immunophenotype in GOF STAT1 and HIES patients is impaired development of Th17 lymphocytes, which could be the reason for their susceptibility to chronic mucocutaneous candidiasis or invasive fungal infection (Stark and Darnell, 2012; Olbrich and Freeman, 2018; Danion et al., 2020). The gene discussed is STAT1; the disease is chronic mucocutaneous candidiasis.
