Although no standardized treatment strategies have been established for patients after first-line treatment with ERBB2-positive advanced breast cancer, many candidate third-line and beyond regimens were used historically, including lapatinib with capecitabine, trastuzumab with capecitabine, or other chemotherapeutics with continued trastuzumab (13, 28, 29). This evidence concerns the gene ERBB2 and breast carcinoma.
