CDK1 and adenomyosis: Mifepristone causes cell cycle arrest by inhibiting cyclin-dependent kinase 1 (CDK1) and CDK2 expressions and induces cell apoptosis via the mitochondria-dependent signaling pathway and increased expression of caspase 3 in endometrial epithelial cells and stromal cells of adenomyosis. A decrease in C-X-C chemokine receptor type 4 (CXCR4) expression restricts the invasion of endometrial cells via the suppression of epithelial-mesenchymal transition.
