These include Vegfa, which encodes a growth factor responsible for proliferation and migration of vascular endothelial cells (51); Ddit4, which encodes a protein regulating cell proliferation and survival, inhibition of neuronal differentiation and neurite outgrowth, and might generate resistance to cancer therapy (52,53); Grin1, which encodes a critical subunit (zeta) of the NMDA receptor, and Bhlhe40, which encodes a transcriptional repressor regulating the activity of clock related genes that might play a role in cancer (54) (Supplementary Figure S3A). This evidence concerns the gene VEGFA and cancer.
