In contrast, we did not show any association between the expression of calpain-6 or mitotic genes and the outcome of patients with osteo- or soft-tissue sarcomas, which makes sense because calpain-6 expressing cells were the majority population in early steps of tumor outgrowth, whereas the CSC population was more or less sparse in mature mouse and human tumors and metastases. This evidence concerns the gene CAPN6 and soft tissue sarcoma.
