ADORA2B and pyelonephritis: Signaling via adenosine receptors, ADORA2A or ADORA2B, stimulates proton secretion by α‐ICs (Battistone et al., 2018); thus adenosine production in pyelonephritis‐induced tissue injury may trigger dysregulated urine acidification leading to systemic alkalosis as is the case in GPR116 or ADGRF5‐deficient mice (Zaidman et al., 2020).
