GHR and acromegaly: The GH receptor antagonist pegvisomant is exclusively approved for the treatment of acromegaly in patients who have had an inadequate response to surgery and/or radiation therapy and/or other medical therapies; although somatostatin analogues are also approved for indications other than acromegaly, they are reliable proxies of acromegaly, especially when used in combination with other acromegaly-related codes.
