Alterations in locomotor activity have been linked to changes in mitochondrial number, Ca2+ levels, and proteome acetylation (Einat et al., 2005; Fukada et al., 2012; Kaska et al., 2017), and elevating Sirt3 expression has also been associated with motor function improvement in a model of Parkinson’s Disease (Gleave et al., 2017).
