It has been shown that reduced EIF3C expression in melanoma and ovarian adenocarcinoma can mediate G0/G1 or G2/M phase arrest and lead to reduced cell proliferation and ultimately cell death in a tissue-dependent manner (Emmanuel et al., 2013), which was consistent with our findings in head and neck cancer, and thus, our study also provided another important evidence for the role of EIF3C in tumor development. The gene discussed is EIF3C; the disease is head and neck cancer.
