The drug corrects the BIM precursor mRNA splicing in chronic myelogenous leukemia cell lines with BIM deletion polymorphisms by reducing the ratio of exon three- and exon 4-containing BIM transcripts, resulting in increased apoptosis (Rauzan et al., 2017; Siegfried and Karni, 2018). The gene discussed is BCL2L11; the disease is chronic myelogenous leukemia, BCR-ABL1 positive.
