Inflammatory cytokine levels were not routinely measured in our hospital, and only two markers that could help to evaluate the inflammatory state were obtained for a large fraction of the COVID-19 patients treated in our hospital: the C-reactive protein, a commonly used inflammatory marker [47,48], and the soluble fibrin degradation product indicative of ongoing coagulation and fibrinolysis, the D-Dimer [49,50]. Here, CRP is linked to COVID-19.
