A number of potential MCC therapeutics targeting critical cell signaling pathways including MAPK, PI3K/mTOR, bromodomain and extra-terminal domain (BET) family proteins, and B-cell lymphoma 2 (BCL-2) inhibitors (navitoclax) were reported to either induce cell death in MCC cells or potentially target MCPyV-infected cells [56,68,69,70,71,72].
