An experimental study concluded that a lectin containing four peptides inhibited the A549 cells proliferation by regulating the expression of some cancer-related genes [223], such as JUN an oncogenic transcription factor [224], TLR4 (toll-like receptor 4) expressed on immune cells and also on tumor cells [225], and MYD88 (myeloid differentiation factor 88) that promotes colorectal cancer cells [226]. The gene discussed is TLR4; the disease is cancer.
