Figure 7b showed that 3BP@PLGA reduced oxygen consumption of tumor cells compared with the control group, while 3BP@PLGA-IR780 indicated better inhibition effects on oxygen consumption. In addition, the research also found that 3BP activated the mitochondrial apoptotic signaling pathway, since apoptotic correlation factors including Cytc and Caspase-3 showed higher expression, as shown in Figure 7c. Hence, 3BP could not only suppress oxygen consumption by inhibition of mitochondrial respiratory chain, but also could disturb the energy metabolism of tumor cells [88].
