Although WT mice were also susceptible to C. gattii, TLR9-deficient mice had severe bronchiolitis and vasculitis, greater cellular infiltrate with eosinophils prevalence, diffuse interstitial pulmonary fibrosis and generalized alveolar destruction, indicating an important role of TLR9 for the protective immune response against C. gattii. This evidence concerns the gene TLR9 and vasculitis.
