AKT1 and viral infectious disease: One of the common mechanisms induced by a viral infection that leads to glycolysis is upregulation of the phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase (PI3K)/protein kinase B (PKB/Akt) signaling pathway, which regulates the expression of glucose transporters 1 or 4 (GLUT1, GLUT4) [18,20,21,22].
