PNPLA3 and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease: As the number of risk alleles of rs738409 (PNPLA3), rs2073080 (SAMM50), and rs3761472 (SAMM50) was positively associated with the presence of NAFLD (Table S6, p = 0.0029, 0.0011, 0.0004 for Cochran–Armitage, 0.0019, 0.0030, 0.0005 for Chi-squared test), and the proportions of homozygous risk alleles were significantly higher in the NAFLD group than in the control group, these three variants were selected as the genetic variables.
