In HIV-positive patients, the dental biofilm is composed of microorganisms such as Enterococcus sp., Enterobacter sakazakii, Enterobacter cloacae, Serratia liquefaciens, Klebsiella oxytoca, and C. albicans. The identified risk factors for NUP are smoking, xerostomia, and a CD4+ T lymphocyte count of <200 cells/μL [23,26,31]. Here, CD4 is linked to xerostomia.
