A significant increase in the apoptotic promoting markers, Annexin V, Bax, Bax/Bcl-2 ratio, cytochrome c, and caspase-8, and a reduction in the expression levels of anti-apoptotic marker Bcl-2 were reported in curcumin-treated compared to control cancer cells, indicating an induction of apoptosis in a time- and concentration-dependent manner. This evidence concerns the gene ANXA5 and cancer.
