The discovery that GDF15 affects the radiosensitivity of breast cancer by regulating the EMT and stemness of radioresistant cells provides us tangible proof to propose that GDF15 can be used as a molecular target for the combination treatment of GDF15 inhibitor and radiotherapy, although there is a possibility that RT kills non-EMT/stem cells and enriched EMT/CSC, leading to increased GDF15 expression. This evidence concerns the gene GDF15 and breast cancer.
