The increase in Nrf2 translocation ratio in OLETF in response to an acute glucose challenge suggests that, at this stage of hepatic disease: (1) the liver can respond to nutrient overloads to compensate for potential insults derived from chronic hyperglycemia, and (2) acutely increased glucose induces an oxidizing environment that stimulates an Nrf2-mediated antioxidant response. This evidence concerns the gene NFE2L2 and Hyperglycemia.
