On a translational high-fat diet (HFD) with a macronutrient composition and cholesterol content comparable to human diets, Ldlr-/-.Leiden mice develop NASH and atherosclerosis in the context of an obese phenotype with insulin resistance, dyslipidemia and hypertriglyceridemia as typical for many patients [31,32,33]. The gene discussed is LDLR; the disease is metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis.
